Women Empowerment

True development empowers even the most disadvantaged sections of society such as women. DBMGF aims at empowerment of women through formation and strengthening of the Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the adopted area. These groups with external linkages with banks and financial institutions have become hubs of public activity for women. Going beyond financial functions, the SHGs have turned into platforms for leadership nurturing among women. Along with much needed economic empowerment, the intervention is enabling women to acquire personal identity and social status. Apart from SHG group formation, skill up-gradation programs are organized such as garment designing, beauty parlor operations, quilt making, and other similar activities. Many have established micro-enterprises individually as well as in the groups. By all this, women have found their space, voice and identity in the villages, where DBMGF is operative. Recently conducted impact study has shown that the intervention in the sector has led to improved intra family as well as social relations for women.
